David Teniers, famous painter, husband of two wife's and father of 11 kids. Statue is located in main shopping street that can be very crowded, especially during sales, July and December.

Teniers was known as a hard worker who was extremely prolific. About two thousand paintings are thought to have been painted by the artist. He was extremely versatile and tried his hand at all the genres then practised in Flanders including history, genre, landscape, portrait and still life.

Teniers is particularly known for developing the peasant genre, the tavern scene and scenes with alchemists and physicians. He also painted many religious scenes among which stand out his many compositions treating the subjects of the Temptation of St Anthony and hermit saints in grottoes or deserts.

Famous and iconic statue of David Teniers the younger, the flemish artist and painter.

It is well located very close to the antwerp central station and at the beginning of the Meir wich is a really fashionable street in the area with lots of famous brand shops !

Behind the statue are two amaizing buildings offering one of the easiest and most beau picture opportunity in antwerp 👍🏻

It was a bit cloudy during my visit but still it was great 👍🏻

David Teniers II, ook David Teniers de Jonge genoemd (gedoopt te Antwerpen, 15 december 1610 – Brussel, 25 april 1690), was een Vlaamse barokschilder. Hij werkte in vele genres, inclusief landschappen, portretten, genrestukken, kunstverzamelingen en stillevens. Hij was schilder aan het Brussels hof en conservator van de kunstverzameling van aartshertog Leopold Willem van Oostenrijk.
